View Current Fees →Why do GPs sometimes charge for forms or reports?
Some work requested by patients, employers, insurers, solicitors or other organisations is outside normal NHS care. The time needed to review records, complete forms or provide a professional opinion may therefore be charged privately.
Why can forms and reports take time?
Clinical care takes priority. A doctor may also need to review the medical record carefully before signing a document or providing an opinion, so non-NHS paperwork may take longer than routine practice administration.
Do all documents need a GP signature?
No. Some documents can be completed or certified by another suitable professional. It is worth checking the requirements of the organisation requesting the document before asking the practice.
